Dear Fellow Parishioners:
Discipleship. It is one of the core principles of our Christian life. St. Paul in his letters writes often of discipleship and disciples, most famously of Timothy. Disciples seek to be selfless examples following in the way of the Lord. As Christians, we should all strive to be disciples who by our actions as well as our words strengthen our Christian community.
Stewardship is a vitally necessary component of discipleship. It recognizes the fundamental truth set out in First Chronicles (29:14b) that “all things come from thee, and of thy own have we given thee.” Consider also in the context of stewardship what Christ was saying in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6:21), “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” These and other passages in the Bible underscore what we as parishioners know, that Christianity is a community of faith. We affirm our faith by gathering together and we need a place, spiritual and physical, to gather. For us that place is All Saints Church, Bay Head. Through our worship services, our Christian education programs, our inreach to our fellow parishioners and our outreach to the community at large, we affirm our discipleship. However, as we all know these efforts require funding. By our gifts, especially our annual pledges, we reaffirm the value of our faith community.
We, the community of All Saints, have always responded generously to the call to fund the physical and spiritual All Saints. May we reaffirm our commitment to one another by pledging generously to the annual stewardship campaign that is essential to maintaining our spiritual home.
Blessings,
The Stewardship Committee
